Four Green Cleaning Brands That are Safe for the Family

Four Green Cleaners That are Safe for the Family

Since I’ve had my baby, I’ve been wanting to buy more green cleaning products and fewer products with harsh chemicals. It’s amazing how much your mindset changes once you have a little one to look after. You only want the best for them. Not to mention, little kids get into everything. I want to share with you four brands that I love. Their products are all mostly comprised of plant-based ingredients so they’re safe for both humans and pets.

Nature’s Magic

Nature's Magic

The first green cleaning brand I want to mention is called Nature’s Magic. I found this brand while on Instagram (a place where I tend to find a lot of my favorite brands lately :D). I was super intrigued when I read that there were few ingredients and that the ingredients were all natural and safe! They have essential oils in their products, which I think is really nice. There are loads of great benefits to using essential oils. On top of that, the products are powerful enough to actually work. Score!

Nature's Magic Deep Clean

Starting with my absolute favorite product of all of Nature’s Magic’s products is Deep Clean. This stuff smells amazing!! I want to use it everywhere because I just love it so much. I feel like it does work well to clean counters, floors, the stovetop, etc. I’ve used it to mop with a few times. The ingredients are as follows: water, organic almond castile soap, pure essential tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, a blend of other essential oils, and grapefruit seed extract. Tea tree oil is powerful for getting rid of germs and so is eucalyptus oil.

Nature's Magic Glass Cleaner

Next up, we have Glass Cleaner. The only ingredients in this are water, vinegar, a blend of pure essential citrus oils, and grapefruit seed extract. Vinegar is a great household cleaner and can be used to do everything from removing odors to removing stains and polishing. I think this Glass Cleaner works totally fine and gets the job done. I’ve used it on both my mirrors and windows. 🙂 Of course, the smell of vinegar isn’t all that appealing at first, but that goes away fairly quickly — so no worries.

Nature's Magic Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Multi-Purpose. You can use this stuff for dusting, cleaning counter tops, toilets, appliances — anything really. Ingredients in this include water, vinegar, organic castile soap, pure essential rosemary oil, peppermint oil, and grapefruit seed extract. Again, I would say this serves its purpose. It cleans and gets rid of odors, which is nice!

Nature's Magic Wood Polish

Lastly, for Nature’s Magic, is their Wood Polish. You can use this on both wood and leather. I have used this to wipe down my couch and had no qualms with it. I also have polished wood and I think it does a great job. The ingredients in this are water, olive oil, organic castile soap, pure essential lavender oil, a blend of other essential oils and grapefruit seed extract. The only thing I would say I don’t like about this product is the scent, but that’s not that big of a deal.

Mrs. Meyer’s

Mrs. Meyer's Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner

Mrs. Meyer’s is my next green cleaning brand mention. I actually saw an ad on Facebook that mentioned if you spent $20 at Grove Collaborative that you got a bunch of free product. I ended up with a really nice haul of green products that I love. One of them is this Multi-Surface Everyday Cleaner. I’ll be the first to say that I would not personally have chosen the Geranium scent for myself, but to be honest, I love it! I feel like whenever I use this, it lifts my spirits and the whole house smells great. Ingredients in this include Birch bark extract, Geranium flower oil, Rose flower oil, and Clove flower oil, just to name a few. I think this is a great everyday green cleaner. I use it in my kitchen and bathrooms a lot.

Dr. Bronner’s

Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner and 18-in-1 Hemp Citrus Pure Castile SoapI absolutely am now a complete Dr. Bronner’s fan! They make green cleaning so easy. Not only are their products effective, but they smell and feel incredible. Dr. Bronner’s products are made with certified Fair Trade and Organic Ingredients. I have to brag about these two products because I absolutely love them! Firstly, I want to tell you about Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner — you can use this product for SO. MANY. THINGS. I’ve used it to wash dishes in the sink .. ummm amazing. I don’t know how, but all of the gunk on the plate literally feels like it slides right off. It is an excellent grease cutter which makes dish washing so effortless.  It’s effective and powerful yet you don’t need to use a lot because it’s concentrated. Also, it’s gentle on your skin.

Other uses for this cleaner are general house cleaning, stain removal, dish soap, laundry soap, floor cleaning (including wood!), car cleaning. You can also use this as a scouring paste by mixing it with baking soda. If you want an all-around cleaner, this is the one! I can’t say enough about it. Plus, it smells amazing. Some of Sal Suds ingredients: Siberian Fir Needle Oil and Spruce Leaf Oil (which give Sal Suds its amazing smell), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Coco-Betaine, and Decyl Glucoside (these three are for grease cutting and cleaning).

Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner and 18-in-1 Hemp Citrus Pure-Castile Soap

The second Dr. Bronner’s product that I can’t get enough of is their 18-in-1 Hemp Citrus Pure-Castile Soap. You can use this soap for everything! Here’s some of the things you can use this soap for – washing your body, hair rinse, washing dishes in the sink, laundry, mopping, washing the dog, cleaning fruits and veggies, all purpose cleaner, getting rid of bugs on plants,  and shaving.

I love the smell of citrus. It is such a relaxing scent to me. This soap smells like orange oil and it transforms my showers! I’m not kidding. I can have the most stressful day ever, and as soon as I get this soap out and use it, the smell just takes my mind to happy places and I feel at peace. You don’t need to use a lot of this at a time because, like Sal Suds, it is concentrated. I like how it lathers, I think the scent is to die for, and I feel clean without my skin feeling dried out, which I love. What I think is funny is that my husband, who loves his old spice scented body washes, has used this soap on numerous occasions. He, too, likes the scent and how well it works.

Norwex

Norwex Envirocloth and Cleaning Paste

Last but not least, Norwex! You may have seen some of your friends on Facebook selling these products. I was introduced to Norwex from my friend Jessica who sells it. What is unique about Norwex products is that you only use WATER with them. I know you’re thinking that doesn’t sound sanitary at all. And trust me, I am a germaphobe so thinking of not using bleach on everything makes me stop and wonder if it actually is cleaning /disinfecting everything. These products do work though. They use silver to disinfect as you clean. Silver smothers germs.

I especially love the Window and EnviroCloths. They are made of microfiber and you can use them on anything really. When I first got my EnviroCloth and  Window cloth, I cleaned my entire kitchen. I’m talking microwave, stove, fridge, countertops, and cabinets. It removed grease, dirt, and everything I needed it to and with the EnviroCloth and Window Cloth mixture, you are left with no streaks and nice, shiny surfaces. I would definitely recommend checking out some of their products. They have everything from cleaning products to laundry and body products.
