Two Products That Will Help You Have Clear Skin + Giveaway!

I’ve used 2 products this week that have truly been wonderful for and helped me to have clear skin. The first is one that was given to me by Apothecary Extracts. It’s 100% pure Australian Tea Tree oil.

Firstly, you can use Tea Tree oil for so many things. I really had no idea it wasn’t just for skin. It’s anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial, so not only can you fix skin problems with it but you can clean with it as well or use it in your hair.

I decided to use this for my spots because I’ve heard a lot of great things about Tea Tree oil for acne spots. I noticed that within a few days my spots were shrinking and going away. It says you should mix this with another oil at first but I wanted to use it by itself and I didn’t feel like I had any issues.

pure-tea-tree-oil

PROS:

Works well for acne

Has many uses

Great consistency

Bottle has a small hole in the top when opened so the oil doesn’t spill out everywhere

100% Pure

CONS:

Strong smell that makes me think of gasoline but it goes away fairly quickly and you don’t notice any more.

I really like this oil. So far it has proven to work pretty well. 🙂 I’ve used it every day for the past week and it’s consistently worked to make my spots smaller. I have seen girls mix this with their face masks which I think I will try soon and post for ya’ll. 🙂 I would definitely recommend this.

A large 4 ounce bottle is $25 but can easily last you a year or more. I barely use any when I cover my spots.

blackhead-and-whitehead-extractor

This is a blackhead and whitehead extractor I bought off Amazon by Malva Belle. It cost about $12 and it’s been one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I saw someone on YouTube using one of these and I immediately wanted one because I struggle with both black and white heads.

whitehead-extractor

The first end is the whitehead extractor. The loop goes around the whitehead and pulls the junk out. It all stays in the loop which is really nice.

blackhead-extractor
The flat side is the blackhead extractor. You run this down your nose, chin, etc., and it pulls all the little blackheads from the top of the skin into the loop.

This little tool makes clearing spots SO much easier. You don’t get scars, it’s not painful, and it works quickly. All you need to do is steam or clean your face so your pores are open. I’ve noticed that between using this and the Tea Tree oil, my skin has been mostly clear this week and that makes me really happy. My pores look smaller because they don’t have gunk in them.

Like I said before, I would highly recommend buying these. They work well and they work quickly. 🙂

Foundation That Gives You a Natural Look

bare_mineralsx

Let’s just get this out there .. Having to do the same ol’ concealer, foundation, powder routine gets old. Sometimes you’d just like to have your face done in 5 minutes and actually feel like you look somewhat put together. Well, with Bare Minerals foundation you can.

Bare Minerals is a loose mineral powder that covers imperfections whilst also creating an even layer on your skin. Because it’s made up of minerals, it doesn’t have a drying effect on the skin.

golden fair bare minerals Source

My current shade is “Golden Fair” from the Bare Minerals matte foundation line. Its description is: “for the fairest of porcelain skin with yellow-olive tones”.

PROS OF USING BARE MINERALS

Lightweight
Even Coverage
Matte
No parabens or fillers
You only need to use a little
SPF of 15

CONS OF USING BARE MINERALS

None that I’ve found yet

I really like this foundation because it’s very simple to use and you don’t have to use a lot. You simply put a little bit in the lid, swirl a brush into it, tap away the excess, and buff it into your skin. It only takes a minute or so and you don’t have to really deal with using concealer or anything else because it’s basically an all-in-one product. Not only that, but it lasts a long time. You don’t have to worry about having to redo your makeup in an hour.

The price tag is $28 for a .21 oz. jar — which sounds a little steep, but with as much as you need to use daily, this lasts so long.

Definitely a must-try! 🙂 You can find more at Bareescentuals.com

Weekend Project: Mirrored Canvas

WEEKEND

This week’s weekend project is inspired by Pinksofoxy (now Christine Kobzeff), a vlogger from Youtube. 🙂 She made a really cool mirrored canvas and I wanted to try to make one as well. Definitely check out her videos. She has some really great ideas for projects and organization.

Here is what you’ll need for this project:

A mirror to break up

(As Christine said, I got the long mirror in the back in Lowes for 5 dollars.) The really cute mirrors were on clearance from $25 to $9! Those are actually for another project, but I thought I’d throw those in there. Gotta love a great deal.

Standard Grout Sponge

Ground Steel Ceramic Floor Trowel

Caulking Gun

Mirror Adhesive

Gloves

Bucket

2ftx2ft Plywood Paneling 1/8 thick or more

1inx2in Boards

Sanded Grout (any color you like)

supplies-for-project

border1I had my husband help me with this. We framed the back of the plywood paneling so that it would be sturdy and not flop around. This is where your screws and 1inx2in boards will come into play.

screwsYou can see here where we put the screws. We couldn’t find any the size we wanted. Since they ended up being long, we had the wood sit on its longer side.

mirror

After framing, you’ll want to break apart your mirror. We did this on a trash bag in the kitchen but I would recommend doing this outside. We live in an apartment so we could only do what we could.

assemblingmirrorStart assembling your mirror pieces how you want them. I loved the look of Christine’s starburst design so I wanted to go with a similar theme. Pretty much, you want to get an idea of where you’re going to glue them down without actually doing so.

jjjjjjNext, take your adhesive and start pressing your pieces into place. I let mine dry for 30 mins. to an hour just to be on the cautious side.

groutYou’ll want to now start mixing grout.  Follow the directions on the bag. 🙂

slather-it-onStart slathering the grout around the canvas with your sponge or you can use a grout spatula like we used. You want to cover everything.

smoothingI wore some gloves and smoothed everything down.

sponge-grout

Once you’ve got everything looking totally messy and covered, take your sponge, dip it in a bowl of water, wring it out, and  begin to (layer by layer) work the grout off the mirrored pieces. Do this in a smooth motion so everything looks even.

Let this dry for a day or so, wipe off the mirror pieces so there’s no cloudiness  on them, and you’re done!! :))

finished-mirror

 The finished project.

I hope you’ll try this out. It does take a bit of work but it’s really fun. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend!

Product Empties

Product Empties

I’m not one to really use up products that often.. so I thought I’d tell you my thoughts on some recent product empties.

Pure Silk – Rich & Luxurious Shave Cream: Raspberry Mist with Aloe

Pure Silk Shaving Cream Raspberry Mist

It goes on very foamy and gives a close, silky shave. I have never cut myself while using this so in my book that’s great. I honestly picked it up on a whim. Sometimes I just pick shower items at random when I’m in a hurry but I’m really glad I chose this one. The shaving cream’s can is made of rust-proof Aluminum, which I love. One of the hardest things to ever get off the shower is rust rings. I actually didn’t read the can until writing this review so when I had it in the shower I’d pick it up daily to see if there were rust rings and would you believe there weren’t any? 🙂 Really like this stuff.

Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter

If you’ve ever tried Whish Shave Crave shaving cream, you’ll know that shave butter feels so smooth and silky. Unlike regular shaving cream, shave butter is like a gel/lotion consistency. I got this Dr. Carver’s Easy Shave Butter as a sample with my subscription to Dollar Shave Club. (I will tell you about that later.) 🙂 You get a really nice close shave with this and it’s great for sensitive skin like mine because you don’t get razor burn. It contains: Golden Barley, Prickly Pear Cactus, Oat Extract, Black Willow Bark as well as Algae. Prickly Pear Cactus is used for skin to help with cuts, and bruises and contains vitamins. Algae has amino acids as well as antioxidants so it keeps your skin soft. Oats are also great for your skin. 🙂 This shave butter’s scent is more for men in my opinion. It reminds me of a cologne, but I didn’t mind because it doesn’t last long. You can find their shave butter here: shave butter  or their website at DollarShaveClub.com .

Kroger – Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena Body Wash

Kroger Pomegranate Lemon Verbena Body Wash
As part of a BzzAgent opportunity, I got to try a few of Kroger’s beauty products for free. I got a coupon for a free body wash and this is the one I chose because it smelled really good. 🙂 At the top, you’ll see it says “Compare to DoveÂŽ go freshÂŽ Pomegranate Lemon Verbena Revive Body Wash”. It does have a similar feel to Dove body wash. I like that it lathers very easily and isn’t too thick. It also doesn’t stay on your skin or dry it out which is really nice. I have dry skin as it is, so using this didn’t irritate it or dry it out further.

Wen – Fall (limited edition) Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner

Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin Conditioner

I’ve used Wen in the past, but never used it for a long time so I couldn’t give an accurate review on this until now. Here is what Wen says this product is :

WENÂŽ Cleansing Conditioner is a revolutionary new concept in hair care. A 5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. It cleanses hair thoroughly without lathering or harsh ingredients. It’s designed not to strip your hair and scalp of natural oils, leaving your hair with more strength, moisture, manageability and better color retention.

I usually have dry and damaged hair that can get tangled at times. When first using this cleansing conditioner, I felt like I had to wash my hair afterwards because it seemed heavy and waxy. I told myself to not give up using it just because I’m not used to it and after using it for a week or two, I noticed my hair seems clean, smooth, shiny and I don’t have to wash it very often. When I flat-iron my hair, I don’t feel like I’m drying it out or going to have breakage. It feels strong. Not only that, but it’s got shine. I’m very happy for that. I would recommend this to those who have dry hair. I’m not sure how it would work with other hair types. Other than that, I think it smells pretty nice. It smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, and cloves. I don’t love the smell of cloves, but I don’t think this is bad. You can buy this at Wen.com

Crest 3D White Toothpaste

Crest 3D White Toothpaste Radiant Mint

If I’m being 100% honest, I can’t say I’ve seen a huge difference in my teeth after using this. I used it every single day, night and day, for a few months and it seems like most other toothpastes to me.

Pros: Has a nice, minty taste that’s not over-powering like some whitening toothpastes.
Nice gel consistency.

Cons: Didn’t see much difference in my teeth after using whole tube.

Over-all, I liked most the products I bought and would recommend almost all of them. If you’ve found some great brands with similar products, I’d love to hear about them.
