Steak 'n Shake Frisco Melt Copy Cat Recipe

frisco24

Alright, ladies ‘n gents,

If you’ve not been to Steak ‘n Shake before, you’re kinda missing out! πŸ˜› It’s a burger chain that was founded in 1934! It’s celebrating its 80th Birthday this year!! πŸ™‚ They have pretty phenomenal food at very cheap prices. I can buy a whole meal with dessert, a drink, burger/fries for around 5Β dollars and it’s open 24 hours. So, if you’re a late night muncher like my friends and I, Β it’s an awesome hang out spot and restaurant.

Unfortunately, since I’ve moved to the mid-west, I don’t have a Steak ‘n Shake location around me, so I tend to try to make up the recipes to their dishes at home. I thought I’d try making their awesome Frisco Melt!!

Here are the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe:
frisco1

1 pound Ground Beef
Swiss cheese – 2 slices
American or Cheddar Cheese – 4 slices
Ketchup or French Dressing – 1 Tbsp
Thousand Island Dressing – 2 Tbsp
Onions – Enough for 2 sandwiches.
Sourdough or whatever bread you like – 4 slices

Roll meat into balls – I rolled 8 ,initially, but ended up combining them to make 4.

Heat a large pan or skillet. You may have to take turns making the burgers.

Flatten meat into patties in hands, or, if you prefer, you can flatten them in the pan you’ve heated up with your spatula.

Cook patties for as long as you're comfortable with. I let mine get brown on both sides.

Once your patties are done, set them aside and start cooking your onions until caramelized.

You'll need to toast some bread in the same butter your onions were cooked in so don't discard your pan grease and go ahead and toast the bread on both sides.

After bread is toasted, start making your sauce mixture. I used Ketchup and Thousand Island dressing ( which ended up being a bit tart), but I think next time I will use French and Thousand Island dressings.

ENJOY!!! :)))

ENJOY!!! :)))

In my opinion, I’d use French dressing instead of using Ketchup and I’d let the cheese melt on top of the meat as it’s cooking :)) I hadn’t made this recipe before and tried it out as I went along. Some things are hit and miss but I really think those 2 things would add to the sandwich. Also, don’t forget to add loads of sauce! It’s the best part!

Thank you for reading my post. <3 Hope you have a lovely week! xo
