Remember in an earlier post I had written about getting 2 Beauty Box 5 boxes last month? Here’s box number 2. 🙂
La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes – These are paraben-free, oil-free makeup removing wipes that contain Aloe, Oat Kernel, and Cucumber Extracts. They’re very gentle. I have pretty sensitive skin so, unfortunately, I can tell when there are too harsh of chemicals in products. My face will turn red which it didn’t do with these. I found these are exceptionally gentle on my skin. They almost feel cloth-like which is awesome because most makeup wipes feel super thin and don’t have a great texture. I wear eyeliner on the daily and these took it right off. 🙂 They also smell pretty nice with a subtle perfumy scent. I wish I could describe better but I’m not sure how to describe it. Haha. My only hang up would be that they’re pretty expensive.
Full-Sized Price: $19.99 48 packets $2.49 pack of 8
Style Essentials Nail Polish – Ohh my gosh! Remember I told you I wanted something like this on my Christmas wish list?! It’s almost like they had read my mind about this. I really like this polish. It’s clear with flecks of white and black so you can wear it over different nail polishes. Super fun. 🙂
Full-Sized Price: Pack of 4 – $7.00
Purlisse Pur Protect SPF 30 Moisturizer – A light-weight moisturizer containing : Blue Lotus, White tea, soy proteins, sea silk (a super thin fabric that comes from pen shells), and lupine peptides (which are said to renew the outer layer of the skin as well as help collagen and reduce wrinkles). It feels nice and sheer and doesn’t feel oily which I love. The white tea calms sensitive skin. I had no issues with that. It’s got vitamin E as well which is great for your skin. I would say the only thing I disliked was the smell of it because it’s a bit strong at first but after a while you don’t notice as much. Also, this is slightly out of what my price range would be for a sun screen.
Full-Sized Price: $55.00 1.7 oz
Nanacoco Lip Gloss – This is a fully pigmented lip gloss with vitamin E that isn’t sticky .. which is awesome. 😀 When I first tried this gloss, I wasn’t a fan. I’m not a huge lip gloss wearer. I always feel like it wears off too fast and it’s slippery. Hahaha. I’d much prefer a lipstick over any lipgloss but this lipgloss is not half-bad. It’s got a beautiful hot pink-ish color. It’s a bit thicker than most as well so it doesn’t seem as liquidy. Over-all, not too bad.
Full-Sized Price: $3.99 0.22 fl oz
Novex Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment – This is like an ultra-moisturizing treatment that you leave in for 25 minutes after shampooing. It’s great for when you have damaged hair because Keratin is the main protein that makes up hair. I really like the smell of it. It reminds me of Pantene shampoo or something similar. 🙂 It gives your hair a little bit of a pick me up for times when it’s damaged or feeling course.
Full-Sized Price: $19.50 for 2 lbs. Not too bad.
I liked this box a bit more than the other box. I can’t wait to receive my December box and see what’s in store.
*Disclaimer : I had a subscription to this box. I did not receive these products for free and as with all posts, my opinions are my own. 🙂
In the past few months, I’ve gotten the pleasure of getting to know this wonderful company called Kneipp. I love the story of who they are and why they are and I adore their products. What they offer is natural products based on the holistic philosophy of Sebastian Kneipp.
Sebastian Kneipp was a naturopath and priest and when he was younger he had an extreme case of tuberculosis. Happening to stumble across a hydrotherapy book, he decided to immerse himself every so often into the freezing waters of the Danube river. With those sudden shocks to his system, he actually strengthened it and even put his tuberculosis into remission! Because of this, Sebastian decided to dedicate his life to utilizing the healing properties of water.
As Sebastian got older, he made friends with a pharmacist who also believed in naturopathy and they created products from natural plant extractions and created products that Kneipp to-this-day uses as a basis in their products. Kneipp has been manufacturing health and wellness products since 1891! Their main site is actually in Germany but they’ve got employees world-wide.
Here are some of their products: Enjoy Life Bath with May Chang & Lemon – Said that it is mood-improving, refreshing and uplifting 🙂 This has Sunflower seed oil, Lemon peel, May Chang and Citronella oil. May Chang is a citrus-y smelling evergreen that is mostly found in China and Indonesia. Sources say it is antibiotic, anti-infectious, and anti-inflammatory. This fragrance will lift your spirits. I find that citrus smells are invigorating and help you feel at ease. If you know how much I love cleaning, you know I love the smell of clean. lol . This makes your skin feel soft, too. 🙂
Soft Skin Bath with Almond Blossom – This is for both dry and sensitive skin. I’ve got both, unfortunately. The fortunate news is that this contains:
Stress-Free Bath with Mandarin & Orange – Contains Mandarin Orange Peel and Orange Peel. I think it smells really nice. I love how this foams in the bathtub. (Not to say this is a bubble bath. It’s not.) It also dilutes in the bathtub. There are directions on the bottle but you can pour in what you’d like. The only thing I’d be careful of is that it does have dye in it and will semi-dye your hands if it gets straight on them haha. Other than that, very relaxing and smells wonderful. Not too strong of a fragrance.
Anti-Callus Salve with Calendula and Rosemary – Contains Jojoba oil, Beeswax, Rosemary, Orange Oil, and Carnauba Wax. I really wanted to try this on my husband and see what his results are. He walks all day long with a 60 lb camera in his hands so this would be perfect for him. But, I tried it on myself and it was extremely moisturizing. I didn’t love the smell, but hey, if it works , it works! 🙂 I’ll have to experiment on my husband soon lol.
Jojoba Massage Oil – Contains Jojoba, Primrose, Avocado, Cymbopogon Martini , and Cinnamomum Cassia(Cinnamon) Leaf Oils. Loved this oil. It’s very moisturizing, it smells nice (not too overwhelming) and it’s very relaxing. Smells sort of Christmas spice-y but not super strong. My husband and I used to go to a massage school and get massages but since we moved, we haven’t had the chance to get a massage. We’ve taken turns using this and it’s super relaxing. 🙂 I would totally recommend buying this for yourself but also for a relaxing go-to for your spouse or loved-one. Trust me, they’ll love you.
So far, I’m totally impressed with Kneipp. They have great products for all different circumstances and their products are of great quality.
If you’d like to buy any products from them go to : http://kneippus.com/
All of their products are fairly inexpensive.
*Disclaimer – I did receive these products free of charge. As with all posts, my opinions are my own.
Because I love trying new beauty products, I’ve enjoyed trying new beauty boxes. Last month, I saw that Beauty Box 5 had a deal where you could get one box for $12 and get another free. I thought, “why not“?
I want to say that I’m enamored by their boxes– but to tell the truth, they fell a bit flat for me. Granted, you can’t judge a beauty box by your first try, so I will be seeing what December’s box brings..
These boxes weren’t perfect but there were some decent items.. here’s what my fist box consisted of:
Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash: I don’t mind Dove products. They seem to have pretty decent products. This body wash smells really good and doesn’t dry out my skin.
Full sized product (22 oz.): $6.49
DenTek Floss Picks + Case: Slightly confused why these were in a beauty box but I agree with BB5’s tip to keep them in your purse in those odd times you may need them. Preferably, when on a date for dinner, etc. Only qualm — a lil’ expensive. I feel like I can buy a bag of 100 for about the same price.
Full-Sized Price: $2.49 (4 count)
Laura Ashley Body Butter in “Italian Lemon”: This body butter, to me, smelled like lemon cleaning product. 🙁 Yuck. It is super thin, almost watery feeling, so it kind of evaporates into your skin. Weirdly enough it seems to make your skin pretty soft. I would be curious what the other scents smell like. Some of the others are: Cherry Blossom, Sweet Peony, Italian Lemon, Coconut Lime, and Spring Lavender. I’d love to try Cherry Blossom. I received a full-sized one.
Full-Sized Price: $20 (1.75 oz)
Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon: A glide-on shadow stick. In the bottom cap there’s a sharpener so you can use it as an eyeliner. Not my fav color. It’s a dark metallac-y green. I do wonder, however, how this would work as a primer for a smokey eye look. Hmmm. I received a full-sized version of this a well.
Full-Sized Price: $4.49 (0.056 oz)
Hask Revitalizing Shine Oil: A Macadamia nut oil that’s great for your hair. It both moisturizes and adds shine. Macadamia nuts contain:
They’re great for dry hair/skin. I really love Hask Macadamia products. They’ve worked well for me.
Full-sized Price: $2.99 (5/8 fl oz)
Over-all, not a bad box but it wasn’t my favorite products. If BB5 had an account manager like Birchbox, I think they’d be better off. I’ll be posting my second box some time soon..so keep an eye out.
Disclaimer: These boxes were paid for by myself. I had a monthly subscription. All opinions are my own. 🙂
Any Beauty Box 5’ers out there? What have you thought of their boxes?
