Five Ways to Bring More Positivity into Your Life

positivity

I guess you could say I’ve been on a journey to finding not only myself, but true and lasting happiness and a positive life. I really think happiness and positivity go hand in hand.

beach

If you ask people who know me, they’ll tell you I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky person. I love having conversations with people about their lives; the really deep parts of their lives that make them who they are. I am usually laughing about something. I love hearing a good joke or lounging around doing nothing but enjoying the presence of others..

Still, I have been working on something that I do struggle with on a daily basis.. and that is POSITIVITY. In my head, it’s so much easier to point out every little thing that goes wrong.. everything that makes me feel like I don’t measure up to others. I know it’s not right, but I do it. I think we all have this struggle at times.

These last few weeks, I’ve been truly trying to be a more positive person. The reason being is that I haven’t felt as happy as I know I should be. I have a great life, an amazing husband and family, and a sweet and loving dog. I think what really opened my eyes was I had been watching different videos and streams of people who were living their dreams and their main focus was self-love, positivity, and drive! Even if no-one else thought they could fulfill their dreams, they thought they could and they did! This set me out to find different ways to add positivity to my life.

Now, this is a journey, and I know it will be a continual one but I am feeling more optimistic already so I have wanted to share these tips with you all.

Here are 5 ways you can be more positive! :

Focus on the good.

When you focus on the positive things in your life, you’re likely to have an over-all feeling of gratitude, thankfulness, and happiness. A good way to keep yourself accountable is to write your thoughts down. I like an app on my phone called “Happier”. (I wrote about it on this post.) It helps me make sure to post positive thoughts and to read positive thoughts from others. A journal is also another good way to focus on positivity in your life.

Surround yourself with positivity.

Talk to positive people, read inspirational books or watch movies about what you’re passionate about — whether that be about fulfilling your dreams,  leading a healthy lifestyle, creating crafts, or starting a business.

Meditate.

Close your eyes, breathe in and out slowly and deeply and give yourself positive affirmations throughout the day. Tell yourself “I will have a great day.”, or “I can achieve my dreams.”. You can even be more specific by saying things like “I will make 5 sales today.” or “I can be a great sales leader!”. Meditate on those good thoughts.

Stop comparing yourself.

Everyone has a different journey. I’ve heard this a dozen times now but it’s probably one of my favorite quotes — “Comparison is the stealer of happiness”. Realize that by comparing yourself to others, you’re not boosting your confidence or helping yourself fulfill your dreams, you’re putting a weight on your shoulders. Be confident in what you can do and be your biggest cheerleader! 🙂 You’ll find that life is much easier that way.

Do things you love.

Travel, rearrange your bedroom, go for a walk, or create something beautiful! 🙂 One of my favorite things to do is to go for a long walk with my dog. I love that I can get out of the house, breathe in the fresh air and see the beautiful, colorful landscapes. It’s pretty impossible to not have a positive outlook when you’re doing things you’re passionate about.

The world is your canvas! Color it! 🙂

Absolutely 🙂 I have found that a huge thing that helped me is by going out with the old and in with the new. By ridding my life of people and things that didn’t make me happy. It’s like when you clean out a room, one way to help you be more positive is to look at each item and ask “Does it make me happy”. If it doesn’t make you happy, let it go. That has helped me so much.

Awesome post!!!! I strive for positivity every single day…some days more than others but its a process that is worth persuing!!! I sometimes start to focus on the negatives in my life to the point where there is “nothing” good in my life but I always have to remind myself of the wonderful life that I have good or bad!

I have done the same thing! Focusing on the negative really does weigh you down. Your thoughts become you — your actions, your life. Having a positive mindset transforms your whole life. It really opens a lot of doors! <3

Being positive is important especially since more often than not, we encounter a lot of challenges in life. These are nice tips, if you focus on all things good, you will definitely feel better. Aside from that, you should also love yourself and make yourself feel loved. That’s how I stay positive.

YES! That is too true. You have to love yourself, first and foremost to really feel positive. It comes from the inside, out. Also, when you can accept whatever challenges come your way and know that you can get through them that’s so powerful! 🙂 Great points!

Hi Kristin! Fantastic post and isn’t it amazing how, by total chance, you can cross paths with someone online and find that you are both on quite the same thought page in life! I took a break from blogging 7 months ago and have been on social media more and more with the thought of getting back in the game. I too am a foodie and a Food Network “addict” and am of the strong belief in positive thinking. Ironically I was repeating a mantra to myself as I drove to work today – it was much needed 🙂 I work in a very negative environment that I could share offline with you. Keep up the fantastic work, writing, enjoying your family and loving that adorable pup of yours! Have a good day 🙂

Ah yes! 🙂 It definitely is great to share common interests with others and to have that same thought page. I know how that can be to have that negativity and it’s hard because I can be sensitive to it. Saying mantras and really focusing on the good is what keeps me going! I really hope that your work environment becomes a much easier place to visit. Hope you have a wonderful week! I’m about to take my pup out for a walk — that’s my way of really clearing my head. 🙂

Great post. I always remember that we have to go through low times in life to really feel the high times. I think many of us forget that happiness is ultimately a choice we have. If you truly want to be happy, you must be happy unconditionally regardless of the situation or circumstances we face..

I can ALWAYS use tips, reminders, practice, etc in being and choosing positivity thus happiness. I am the only me that can create a happy life for myself. Basically I am happy and positive but at any given moment something can be said, done, or mentioned and I can throw all the positive out the window. But I have posts like this to remind me where I want to be and choose positive over negative once again. Thank you.
